Provide high-quality member service by accurately performing a variety of financial transactions and processing a complete range of branch services for retail and business members. Use a needs based sales approach to establish new memberships, make referrals to business partners, deepen member relationships and retain members.





Accurately complete all types of account transactions requested by members by following organizational processes and procedures.  This includes processing negotiable instruments, accurate end-of-day proof and handling large volumes of cash.

Open new memberships, new accounts, and new loans and process loan and account transactions for retail and business members. Use needs based sales approach, ask questions to uncover ways to meet members’ financial needs with additional HVCU products and services.

Refer members to appropriate business partners based on member needs and capture interactions using the customer relations management software. This includes but is not limited to automated transaction services, real estate loans, business loans and services, investment and insurance services. Provide strong internal service to coworkers throughout the credit union.

Contribute to branch and individual sales and service goals. Maintain a working knowledge of HVCU products, services and systems in order to make recommendations based on member needs. Utilize resources to ensure quality member service.

Adhere to branch safety and security practices and procedures. This includes member confidentiality, securely maintaining cash and negotiable items, and physical security standards.

Support the successful implementation of marketing programs and promotions.  Create member awareness by discussing the features and benefits of the product/service and recommending based on member needs.

Assist the branch management team with non-member facing tasks such as providing opening and closing support for the branch, ordering and verifying cash for the branch, assisting with cash control tasks, adhering to dual control processes and daily branch reconciliation.

Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Education Level

Education Details



High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, or state authorized high school equivalent certificate; or a current high school senior in possession of a certificate of satisfactory academic standing.  






Licenses/Certification Details



NYS Notary Public license following 6 months achievement of independence on the job






Experience Details



Minimum 6 months

Customer service experience in a financial institution or retail environment




Previous Teller or cash handling experience in a financial institution or retail environment






Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers in person, and via telephone and email, as well as effectively communicate with management.

Ability to understand and accurately apply intermediate mathematical concepts.

Ability to read, understand and interpret documents, procedures and policies.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

Ability to multi-task and handle varying deadlines within a fast paced work environment.

Demonstrate initiative to solve problems and improve internal service using Lean concepts.
