PRIMARY FUNCTION

 

An Application Solution Architect assists the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Architecture to drive, ensure alignment and promote the company's technology strategy and roadmap in partnership with the Enterprise Architects, IT leadership, and our internal customers to realize business strategies to meet the needs of the member base now and well into the future.

 

An Application Solution Architect is responsible for creating technology solutions in support of the long-term technology strategy of the credit union and the needs of the business, including solution architecture diagrams, architecture definitions, research notes, reports on industry best practices, and presentations. Provides indirect leadership over solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation. Communicates the architecture to stakeholders. Collaborates and coordinates with existing technical architects in the solution ideation and design phases. Applies IT standards to technology solutions and follows IT processes.  Assists in the development of an architecture program including roadmaps for existing technology architectures. Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with industry best-practice for technology solutions to ensure systems are designed to ensure maximum uptime, appropriate monitoring, automated resiliency, appropriate security, and enterprise performance.

 

 


 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Create solution architecture artifacts for technology and business initiatives in alignment with the credit union’s strategic technology roadmap and enterprise architecture principles.

Ensure architectures that are flexible, scalable, and account for directional changes taking place across the enterprise.

Review architecture artifacts with business and technology stakeholders to ensure compliance with policies, standards, technology strategy and roadmaps.

Advise on tools and technologies that will help better position the company for higher scale, efficiency, and performance.

Research industry best-practice, market-leading technologies to advise business partners and to help shape the opinion and direction of the company.

Create solution architecture artifacts across a wide array of technologies. 

Review and collaborate to ensure solution alignment with business and technology strategies and roadmaps.

Follow architectural standards and governance in line with enterprise technology roadmap, regulatory requirements, and security standards and ensure security and operational integrity is sustainable.

Review solution architecture artifacts with Enterprise Architecture, IT and business stakeholders at the Architecture Review Board.

Recommend and assist with the build-out of new processes within IT in support of enterprise architecture functions.

Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to incorporate solution architecture artifacts into modeling software to ensure that an accurate picture of the people, process and technology aspects of solutions are well-documented and usable by enterprise architecture stakeholders.

Work with line-of-business leaders to understand their technology needs and business strategy.

Evaluate solutions that will drive down cost of IT and engage vendors to find potential cost savings

Work with key vendors / partners as needed to meet timelines.


Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Proven knowledge and experience in Security Solution Architecture, design practices, and modelling

Proven knowledge across a wide variety of different technology platforms and a proven understanding of the appropriate application of those technologies to business and technical problems.

Strong technical understanding and comprehensive breadth of knowledge of technology best practices, solution design, and systems integration.

Strong technical understanding of cloud architecture patterns and best practices. Knowledge of Azure cloud platform and services is preferred.

Ability to make progress in ambiguous situations with minimal supervision

Ability to gather business needs and translate them into technical solutions.

Ability to build consensus across technical and non-technical constituencies.

Knowledge and experience in the financial services or other similar highly regulated industry is preferred.

Proven leadership and collaboration skills.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

Must be able to learn new software products.

Advanced verbal, written and presentation skills.

Must be able to demonstrate advanced analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to effectively communicate with Senior Management.
