PRIMARY FUNCTION

 

The Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO) is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and enterprise-wide execution of Hudson Valley Credit Union's artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI initiatives. This role serves as the principal architect of the organization's AI vision and roadmap, with a mandate to transform HVCU into a data- and AI-driven institution. The CAIO will identify, prioritize, and oversee the implementation of high-impact AI use cases across underwriting, customer service, and internal operations, ensuring alignment with the credit union's mission to enhance financial security and member experience.

 


 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Formulate and lead the execution of a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with HVCU’s mission and long-term business objectives. Define the vision, roadmap, and governance model for AI adoption across the organization, ensuring alignment with digital transformation goals.

Collaborate with business units to identify high-impact AI and generative AI use cases, particularly in underwriting, customer service, and internal operations. Evaluate feasibility, scalability, and ROI of proposed initiatives, and prioritize projects based on strategic value and organizational readiness.

Serve as a strategic partner to the CIO, CEO, and other senior leaders, fostering collaboration across product, technology, risk, and operations teams. Build consensus and secure executive sponsorship for AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities.

Oversee the design, deployment, and scaling of AI solutions in partnership with technical teams. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and business impact of AI initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and value delivery.

Drive innovation by exploring and promoting AI-centric business models that enhance customer experience, unlock new revenue streams, and improve operational efficiency. Stay abreast of emerging AI trends and technologies to inform strategic decision-making.

Lead change management efforts to support the adoption of AI technologies across the enterprise. Develop and implement training, communication, and engagement strategies to build AI literacy and foster a culture of innovation and agility.

Ensure that AI initiatives adhere to ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks. Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to establish governance structures that promote responsible AI use.

Represent HVCU as a thought leader in the AI space, both internally and externally. Participate in industry forums, contribute to publications, and build partnerships that enhance the organization’s reputation and influence in the AI and financial services communities.


Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
