PRIMARY FUNCTION

 

Supervise the daily operations and staff related to the underwriting of home equity loans and lines of credit. Coordinate the workflow for assigned personnel, monitor goals to ensure excellent member service is provided and reviews processes and procedures for continuous improvement. Responsible for promoting excellence in underwriting standards and ensuring adherence to Credit Union policies, department procedures and internal guidelines.

 


 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Interview, hire, and develop home equity underwriting staff and conduct individual performance reviews. Build employee engagement through consistent communication, coaching and reinforcement of organizational values and modeling of critical behaviors.

Set clear expectations to monitor and coach staff contributions to Real Estate Lending department goals. Conduct regular one on one meetings with home equity underwriting staff.

Respond to internal and external customers regarding complaints, problem resolution, home equity underwriting guideline clarification and procedural issues.

Monitor home equity loan queues and ensure adequate staffing.

Initiate and implement process improvement to enhance employee and member experience and increase department efficiencies.

Participate in developing/enhancing home equity products and procedures.

Collaborate with post-closing QC auditor and provide timely responses on errors monthly and communicate results to staff.

Monitor underwriters’ approved loan dispositions to ensure adherence to Credit Union issued loan approval authority. Approve loans within Credit Union loan approval authority. Conduct second review of declined home equity applications.

Lead weekly underwriting meetings to ensure underwriting review consistency and discuss any issues or concerns.

Perform loan origination system (LOS) update functions for home equity product guidelines, rate changes, document updates and other loan parameter changes. Coordinate testing of updates in LOS prior to production implementation.


Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Mortgage Review - Real Estate

Knowledge of and ability to review mortgages in order to ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards and to identify and control risks in a mortgage portfolio.
